NearVision CK (Conductive Keratoplasty)

Procedure Description:
A non-laser procedure to improve reading vision.

What To Expect:
NearVision CK is best suited for those over 40 years of age who had good vision until they reached their forties. It's for people who don't want to put up with the constant hassle of reading glasses or bifocals. NearVision CK does not require a surgery facility and takes only a few minutes to perform. Most patients will have "blended vision" and have only one eye treated for near vision. This allows them to see both near and far without dependence on reading glasses.

Preprocedure:
Dr. Tantisira will first discuss your needs with you and perform a complete examination to ensure that you are a good candidate for this procedure. Additional mapping of your cornea and measurements are then performed. You will be given information about the potentile risks and side effects prior to signing a consent form to have the procedure.

On the day of the procedure, your eye will be numbed with powerful eye drop anesthesia. Then you'll be asked to look at a microscope light. Your eye will be marked with a series of dots. Dr. Tantisira will touch the dots with the probe, making a full circle around the outer margins of the cornea.

Postprocedure:
Because the NearVision CK procedure may cause temporary swelling of the cornea, some patients must wait a few days to appreciate their results, while others see improvement almost immediately. For the first couple of days, you may experience some discomfort and light sensitivity as well as glare and halos. These side effects improve rapidly and medications can be used to relieve any discomfort. Most likely, you can resume normal activities the day after your procedure. You will use drops for a short time and need to follow up with Dr. Tantisira after the procedure.

Almost all patients will notice a marked improvement in their near vision after the procedure. How far back the clock turns on your vision depends on how your eye responds and how it heals. As your eyes continue to age, you may need additional treatments in the future.

Dr. Tantisira will perform a personal consultation to determine your needs. If you are in good health, have good skin tone and have realistic expectation, Botox Cosmetic may be your answer to a younger appearance.

Botox Cosmetic injection can be performed in an examination room environment. The number of injections depends on the area being treated and will be determined by Dr. Tantisira at the time of consultation.
